Offensive linemen dominate the the first round Seattle Seahawks mock draft tracker as we head into the 2017 NFL Combine.

A quick survey of the recent Mock Drafts from NFL.com, FanSided, CBS and Bleacher Report showed a vey common theme. Most of these draft pundits have the Seahawks taking an offensive linemen in the first round.

That isn’t particularly surprising given that Seattle’s offensive line was historically bad last season. Projecting an offensive linemen to the Seahawks seems obvious, even if there is a complete lack of quality players at the position in this year’s draft class.

The biggest problem I have with the OL picks isn’t the position, but the players themselves. Cam Robinson is another OT that’ll have to move inside to guard if he wants to have an NFL career. Forrest Lamp has T-Rex arms. Dan Feeney isn’t a special player, and guards should be special if you’re going to spend a first round pick on them.

The most interesting pick in the group is easily Christian McCaffrey. Stanford’s diminutive runner has absolutely loaded with talent, but he isn’t a scheme fit for what the Seahawks do in the running game. A first-round pick seems like a high price for a player that fills the same role as CJ Prosise.

Next: Is a Russell Okung reunion approaching?

The further we get into this process, the more I think that the pundits picking a defensive player for Seattle are probably correct. As much as Seattle need OL help, there simply isn’t the talent there in this year’s draft to justify that pick.
