Seahawks Release Their Preseason Schedule
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks announced their preseason schedule on Monday. Seattle’s preseason matchups will feature three AFC West teams and the Minnesota Vikings. The Seahawks will play the Los Angeles Chargers at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, then sandwich two home games in, against the Kansas City Chiefs and Vikings, before finishing the preseason schedule against the Oakland Raiders. This will be the 12th straight year the Raiders and Seahawks will play their final preseason game against each other.
The Chiefs game will be nationally televised on Friday, August 25th. The game will start at 5 pm PT. The other three games will be shown locally on Q13 FOX.
The Chargers game will mark the first time the Chargers will play in Los Angeles since 1960. For reference, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll turned nine years old that year. The Chargers will play in the 30,000 seat StubHub Center this year and next. Or basically what the Chargers can expect as their normal home attendance once they move to their permanent home in Inglewood in 2019.
The Raiders game may be made even more interesting if a certain former Seahawks running back un-retires and joins his hometown team. Marshawn Lynch appears to still be weighing whether he wants to return or not. If he does return, expect quite a few 12s to attend the game in Oakland. The question will be how Seahawks fans react to Lynch’s return. My guess is with a bittersweet applause.
Besides the national game against the Chiefs, the rest of the preseason times and dates will be released once the National Football League releases its full slate of games in 2017. This is expected to be within the next two weeks.
The complete preseason schedule looks thusly
Preseason Week 1: Seahawks at Chargers on Q13 FOX
Preseason Week 2: Seahawks vs Vikings on Q13 FOX
Preseason Week 3: Seahawks vs Chiefs on CBS (national game)
Preseason Week 4: Seahawks at Raiders on Q13 FOX
