Seahawks Continue 2013 Draft Love, Sign Dion Jordan

Dion Jordan tries to turn his career around in Seattle
The Seahawks signed Jordan, a former number-three draft pick in 2013 and defensive end for the Miami Dolphins, reportedly to a one-year deal at close to the National Football League minimum. Jordan has not played since 2014. He missed all of 2015 due to his third violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He missed 2016 due to a knee injury. Jordan, in other words, in an extreme unknown.
In Miami Jordan played 26 total games and had three sacks. Jordan is 6’6” and 260 pounds. He has the right size to be an edge rusher. Whether he still has the quickness to be one is another question. The Seahawks certainly hope so.
One thing is for sure: Seattle loved the 2013 draft. They just did not like their part of it. With the signing of Jordan, Seattle has signed the second and third picks from 2013 this offseason. The other signing was number-two pick offensive lineman Luke Joeckel. Plus, the Seahawks have signed Eddie Lacy (number 61) and Arthur Brown (number 56) from 2013’s draft this year. Seattle currently has only one of their choices from that year’s draft currently on the roster, tight end Luke Willson.
If Jordan can come to Seattle motivated and in shape, he could help spell ends Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril. Seattle may also see Jordan as the replacement for linebacker Mike Morgan, still an unrestricted free agent. Jordan would not be expected to play a huge number of snaps. This may keep him fresh during pass rush situations. Bennett and Avril appeared to wear down slightly at the end of last season. Any quality depth would be welcome.
If Jordan does not show up motivated and in shape, he was still a low risk player worth taking a chance on.
