The Seahawks made several interesting picks in the third round, ending with Amara Darboh

The Seahawks have several receivers on the roster who are among the same, smallish size. Darboh helps fit a need Seattle has for a bigger receiver. Darboh, though, is not that big. He is only 6’1″ but does weigh 215 pounds. Darboh has decent quickness and ran a 4.45 40 at the combine. He, like several other third round choices the Seahawks made, was not expected to go until a bit later in the draft.

And that might be the issue. Darboh can be a good receiver. He is not expected to make Pro Bowls every year. He can take the place of Jermaine Kearse on the roster. Adding another Kearse does not make the Seahawks instant Super Bowl favorites. Darboh was not expected to go until the fourth round or later. And neither was defensive tackle Nazair Jones, also taken by Seattle in the third round.

It is one thing for one player to be chosen ahead of expectations. The Seahawks took three of them in the third round in Jones, Darboh and safety Delano Hill. One might ask why the Seahawks traded down twice to load up their second and third rounds and then take players they could have possibly had later? And were there players who may have better potential than the players who were taken? Fans might be right to ask the Seahawks about some of these choices.

Seattle likes to take players who have something to prove. This Seahawks draft has a few of those type of players. Let’s hope they work out as well as Seattle hopes.
