It’s going to be a little weird seeing “Beast Mode” in black and silver

I’m not quite sure I’m ready for Marshawn Lynch in Oakland. It’s going to feel awkward rooting against him, but 12’s are a viciously loyal bunch to say the very least. I will actively hope for him to fail at his job, but I can still love Lynch deep down. Yes, I can still love Lynch. I just hope he doesn’t have any more beast-quake-like situations at CenturyLink; I don’t think the Nisqually can handle it. Have you put your emergency preparedness kit together? Isn’t “The Big One” supposed to hit any day now?

If Western Washington doesn’t split off into some new island nation before the weekend starts, might I suggest going to 107.7 The End’s “Endsession” at Chop Suey for a free show featuring Alt-J? The show starts at 3 pm. If you’re among the first 20 people in the door, you might get to meet the band. I’d hesitate to meet the folks in my favorite bands out of fear they would turn out to be unsavory characters and it would make me hate their music. But if you want to meet them, it’s your world, I’m just passing through.

Friday evening affords you the opportunity to witness the results of an intensive summer program attended by Seattle’s young hopeful poets, musicians and leaders. Forty participants will display the fruits of their labor in an evening hosted by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The evening will be peppered with performances by some of the rising stars of Seattle’s local hip-hop scene like Michaelson, Swxxve, Ezrael, Theomatic, Kay C, and Saul Williams. This goes down at Washington Hall in the C.D. and will cost you $10. 7 pm.

Get centered Saturday morning at Westland Distillery in SoDo. Then, once your chi is sufficiently harnessed, why not do some whiskey tasting? Join the instructors from Just Add Yoga for an hour-long yoga session chased with samples of some of the good stuff. Yoga-only is $20 and yoga and whiskey is $30. Doors open at 10 am. Yoga from 10:30-11:30. Whiskey tasting from 11:30-1 pm.

Live your life like the cliche that it is

Have a date-night this Saturday at “Pike Place Date Night With Rambunctious Food”. $110 per couple gets you and your woman (or man, etc.) a drink, a movie ticket to AMC Theaters, and a full four-course meal. Impress him/her with this awesome night out. He/she will remember it forever and it’s something you and he/she can talk about for years to come.

What is a weekend without a beer fest? I don’t think there was one last weekend. I wonder what all the beer fest goers in the PNW did with their time. In my imagination they all stayed home working on their Castlevania scores on the classic NES. Probably not the case, but I’d like to think so. This weekend is looking good for the beer-fest crowd because the Bacon and Beer Classic is coming to Safeco Field! There are many ticketing options, but at the very least it’s $59 for three hours of all the bacon and beer you can consume (and there will be live music or whatever; Bacon and beer!!!). Your doctor does not recommend this event.

Finish off your weekend with a visit to the Punk Rock Flea Market in Seattle Center at 1st ave N. and Republican st. It’s only $1 (so punk!), live music, drinks, patches, denim vests, safety pins. Probably a lot of safety pins. Come out and do some lip sneering. Starts at noon.
