The Seahawks have taken Justin Senior with the 26th pick in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Senior will help to bring some more competition to the offensive line.

As we all know, the Seahawks offensive line has struggled for the past few years. They drafted Ethan Pocic in the second round, which will help at both guard and tackle. Senior will most likely start out at offensive tackle.

Senior will provide depth immediately, but it won’t be easy for him to make the team. The Seahawks typically keep 9 offensive linemen on the 53-man roster, so he will have to fight hard in training camp.

Seattle lost Garry Gilliam as a RFA and needed some more help at the tackle position.  Apparently Senior struggled during the Sr. Bowl, though, so he might be a bit of a project. We know Tom Cable likes to work with these kind of players.

Justin Senior grew up in Montreal, Quebec so he will join Jon Ryan and Luke Willson, as the third Canadian on the team. He played his college ball at Mississippi St. and is listed at 6-5 and 331. He also has 34″ arms, so he’s certainly a big player, and Cable usually puts his biggest linemen on the right side.

Senior will be competing with Robert Myers for the backup right tackle spot. Myers was on the Seahawks’ practice squad for most of last season. This will be a really fun competition to watch during training camp. There is also a chance Pocic plays right tackle, so keep an eye on that.

Overall, Seahawks fans should be happy with adding another offensive lineman. He will come in and compete for a spot and will help add some depth. He is a big guy, and will bring some nice physicality to the line. Finding Justin Senior at the end of the sixth round is good value for the team.
