Final phase of OTAs kicks off for Seahawks

Tuesday marked the first of the final seven organized team activities (OTAs) before the team breaks until minicamp. The “practice” on Tuesday was closed to the public but the veterans were on the field. Quarterback Russell Wilson tweeted this

The Seahawks are not allowed to be physical in these activites. Most are closed for viewing. Still, it’s at least something in the long dirge of the non-football summer. No player is holding out, so no drama is good. Now as long as no one gets hurt or in trouble…

Kaepernick to Seattle? Not so fast…

Pat Kirwan of SiriusXM’s Moving the Chains program tweeted that Kaepernick ending up in Seattle is not likely.

Kirwan also reported on his show that he thinks Seattle signing the former 49ers quarterback is probably not going to happen. Kirwan may know a thing or two. He knows Pete Carroll well and worked with him for five years when Carroll was with the Jets. It was even speculated that Kirwan would come to Seattle when Carroll was hired as the coach. That did not happen. Kaepernick to Seattle may still happen. But after what Kirwan said on Tuesday, that appears less likely than before.

Are there ten teams more talented than Seattle?

Gil Brandt, NFL Media senior analyst, released his preseason top ten most talented teams on the 24th of May. The Seahawks are not among them. In fact, Seattle was only among the “also considered” group which also consisted of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Teams with more talent than Seattle, according to Brandt? The New England Patriots were number one. Ok, fine. The Oakland Raiders were number four. Hmmm…alright. Maybe. Numbers nine and ten, though? The Carolina Panthers and Washington Redskins. While the Panthers are better than last year’s record would indicate, they are not clearly better than Seattle. And Washington? They are not better at quarterback. Or the defensive line. Seattle is better at receiver. And so on…

Let Brandt and others keep writing such things. We all know how the Seahawks play even better when so many others doubt them.
