Eight Best Players on the 2017 Seahawks Roster
By Lee Vowell
There are eight Seahawks players who could determine the success (or failure) of Seattle’s season
Since Pete Carroll and John Schneider came to Seattle, defense has been the driving unit behind the Seahawks’ success. One could argue that Seattle’s current status as one of the best teams in the NFL began when Earl Thomas was drafted. Russell Wilson was very good from the start, but he didn’t get great until year four.
Seattle is fortunate enough to have several elite players spread over different units of the team. There are even more Seahawks at the next level. Actually, there should be no position group that is not at least average this season. (Yes, this includes the offensive line. If second-year jumps are the norm, then Germain Ifedi and others should be much better.)
On most teams the quarterbacks are the most important players. They have to be. The quarterback touches the ball on nearly every offensive play during the season, save for the occasional direct snap to another player. This does not mean, though, that the quarterback is the best player on the team. For instance, the Houston Texans made the playoffs last season. No one would say the quarterback was better than JJ Watt. Or Jadeveon Clowney. Or several other defensive players.
So who are the eight best players on the Seattle Seahawks for the 2017 season? The players who will separate the Seahawks from the rest of the NFC and propel them to the Super Bowl? Read on, dear 12s.
