Bobby Wagner hit the podium after wrapping up the latest round of OTAs with the Seahawks. He had a lot to say about the new guys. He chimed in on his offseason focus and his personal goals. He had something to say about all that talk of locker room divide, too.

Bobby Wagner on the newest Seahawks

Specifically, Wagner was asked about getting to know Michael Wilhoite and Arthur Brown, among others.

"“It’s been cool. The first day for me was definitely different. It’s a lot of new faces. I enjoy it. We get an opportunity to teach the new guys. I always feel like when you have to teach somebody it helps you learn the defense. Everybody’s been cool. I’ve had a blast so far.”"

What did Wagner focus on during the offseason?

He played a little basketball to wind down, then hit the film room.

"“Coverage. Man on man coverage, recognizing routes. I watched all my film from last year…I feel like those are the areas I can get better at. I had a lot of QB pressures but not a lot of sacks. So turning those pressures into sacks, hopefully, so whenever I get my name called, I hope to have  a sack instead of a pressure.”"

What about the reported divide between the offense and the defense?

There certainly have been a lot of anonymous reports on this. So what does Wagner think?

"“I haven’t really thought too much about it. I just think, I hate anonymous sources. I’m in that locker room every day. I don’t see it. I see competitors, I see people trying to push each other to be the best they can possibly be. I see Sherman and Russ next to each other all the time, smiling and laughing. When I walk into that locker room, I see a family, people that want the best for one another.”"

After his great season last year, what’s the next level for Wagner?

"“I like to be consistent. I feel like there’s still room to grow. My goal is to really be a dominant player in this league and have nobody question it. I strive for being great.”"

So Bobby Wagner isn’t satisfied with the level of his play. That’s great news for one team, not so hot for the opponents.
