Michael Bennett of the Seattle Seahawks spoke today in an interview on 710 ESPN Seattle’s “Brock and Salk” show. As always, he said some great things.

Bennett is like a lot of Seahawks. He is talented and outspoken, but also very intelligent. His intelligence is one of the things that has made him a great player. He learns the weaknesses of other players by observance and preparation. As Bennett said today, “…in the NFL talent is kind of equal; it’s about who has the best technique and who prepares.” Bennett speaks his mind about things political and social and quarterbacks, and always these thoughts are well said. Whenever Bennett is on television or radio, it is must-see or must-hear.

Today, on “Brock and Salk,” Bennett talked about several things, most notably Russell Wilson, his teammates, OTAs and Colin Kaepernick.

OTAs

Bennett said, “It’s not that you want to stay away from the team, it’s ‘optional.'” Bennett prefers to work out on his own to prepare for training camp and the regular season. Honestly, Bennett may have earned the right to work out on his own at this point in his career. Bennett says he does not need to “work out for five hours a day; I work out for two hours a day.” He is not a problem on the team. He comes to camp in shape. Bennett plays hard every down. Also, Bennett said he simply wants to “be a parent” and take the time to have balance in life.

Colin Kaepernick

Bennett said it was “crazy that (Kaepernick) in not in the NFL” when there other quarterbacks “who have been accused of sexual assault…people with gun charges.” To Bennett, Kaepernick has not gotten a chance with a new team because of racial issues. “Is sports really integrated?” asked Bennett.

Russell Wilson

Bennett clearly disagreed with ESPN’s Seth Wickersham’s article in May about the turmoil on the team. Bennett referred to the article as a “s****y story.” “Quarterbacks get treated differently…and quarterbacks get treated differently in the NFL because they are the organization,” Bennett said. “If the quarterback is the predominant player on a team, most likely that’s a playoff team…On a team with competitive people, there’s gonna be issues that are gonna happen. (The Seahawks) cannot win a game without Russell Wilson.” Bennett said Wilson is a top five quarterback and a great player.

Other Comments

Bennett said Richard Sherman is a “great player” and “(the Seahawks) need Sherman to win.”

And, “The city of Seattle deserves a Super Bowl trophy.”

Bennett also said, as he has said many times, that players should be playing to win a Super Bowl. This is what makes Bennett great. He cares. Bennett cares about winning, winning for the city and wants to make a positive difference in communities.

In other words, Bennett is one of the best reasons to pull for the Seahawks and be a 12.
