Once again there is no Seahawks football. We have a few ideas on what else there is to do.

You gotta love it when you check the weather for the weekend, even without Seahawks football, and it’s nothing but uninterrupted yellow circles. According to the weather report I was checking out, it’s looking like yellow circles for our weekend. Let’s make the most out of it, shall we?

Laugh with Michael Che (co-anchor of Weekend Update on SNL) for a night of his stand-up comedy this Friday at the Neptune Theater. It’ll be a good opportunity to see the “newsman” come out from behind America’s favorite parody news desk and perform in his own style with his own jokes. There’ll be two shows, one at 7, one at 10:15. Tickets start at $25.

Cars!

The weather this weekend is going to be absolutely perfect for the Greenwood Car Show on Saturday, all up and down Greenwood Ave. There’s going to be plenty of slack-jawed gawking at the beautiful specimens surely to be on display there. Classics, modern customs, exotic imports…there will be something for everyone.

What better to go along with this weekend’s forecast of yellow circles then the 1st Summer BrewBQ with Deschutes Brewery at The Fiddlers Inn? This Saturday from 5-10 pm come out for ribs (starting at 6) and live music featuring Eric Miller (starting at 8). When I eat good barbecue I always end up with a smile-shaped smear of sauce on my face, like some kind of hungry Joker or something. Come out and use your real smile, then enhance it with some messy sauces and delicious beer!

Star Wars: Rogue One anyone?

I love a good outdoor movie during the summer, and you can’t do much better then The Seattle Outdoor Cinema (which used to be Fremont Outdoor Movies). This Saturday they will feature Star Wars: Rogue One at the South Lake Union Discovery Center. It’ll be a 21+ showing with a beer garden and everything. Single tickets are only $5. I remember when you could actually get into a movie theater for $5, but it was so long ago I’m sure I had a mullet the last I paid so little. Check out the entire summer lineup of movies and see about season tickets and other ticketing options.

Something good for humanity

Was there ever a better reason to drink beer then fight human trafficking? Probably not, which is why Beers Against Slavery is probably the most moral way to swill some suds. Come out to Peddler Brewing on Sunday from 12-3 pm for the event. Tickets start at $25 and will get you three tastings from Peddler Brewing, access to the taco and nacho bar, cupcakes from Cupcake Royale, prize drawings, and the warm feeling of doing something good with your time and money. How long has it been since you were ethical? Come out and be the human being you see yourself as!

Would you consider lamb to be the great unsung hero of the barbecue universe? Maybe that’s a bit of a stretch. Regardless, you should come out to Seattle Lamb Jam at the “Within Sodo” event space. They are bringing together six of the region’s best barbecue chefs to compete to become Seattle’s Lamb Jam Barbecue Master, a noble title if I’ve ever heard one. Tickets are $75. You’ll be able to eat all that lamb, there will be local breweries, distilleries and wine makers on hand offering delicious pairings, and there’s live music by the Rain City Ramblers!

Lastly…

And finally, this is Gay Pride weekend! It would be tough to leave the house at all during the weekend without seeing some event recognizing Seattle’s LGBTQ population. If you only make it to one Pride event, it has to be the parade on Sunday starting at 11 am stretching all down 4th Ave downtown. Come show your pride in yourself, or show pride in your community! These parades are a serious hoot, and if you’ve never seen one, make this your year.
