What do the Seahawks Players do with their Money?
By Luke Allen
The Seahawks have plenty of players who make A LOT of money.
Derek Carr recently went on record saying he’d spend his record $125 million deal on none other than Chick-Fil-A.
Hearing that ridiculous statement made me wonder what some of the higher-paid Seahawks spend their millions of dollars on.
Here’s my crack at guessing what the players in Seattle blow their money on!
Russell Wilson: Russell Wilson got PAID by the Seahawks in 2015. He signed a four-year, $87 million contract extension. Where do I believe he spends most of his money? Hair gel. Recently, Russ has been letting his hair grow out. On Twitter and Instagram, you can’t find a picture or video with his hair NOT all gelled-up. He probably buys the good stuff.
Richard Sherman: Sherm signed a contract back in 2014, guaranteeing him $40 million over four years. This one is easy for me. He spends that money on jet skis. Let’s be honest, if your work was accessible via a water vehicle on a lake, wouldn’t you want to roll up on a jet ski every day? We’ve seen him do it before, and I bet he’s got a whole garage full of wave runners waiting to be taken out onto Lake Washington.
Doug Baldwin: The star receiver signed a four-year. $46 million contract after his breakout 2015 campaign, and hasn’t slowed down since. Baldwin seems like the guy to put his money in savings, right? Wrong. I’m willing to bet $46 million he spends the majority of his money on Xbox games. I mean, he’s the king of Madden with the Seahawks; and he finished as the runner-up in Xbox Charity Challenge to Aaron Donald. Additionally, he may get some motivation from his lower rating in Madden.
Michael Bennett: Bennett is the most recent player to receive a contract extension. In December 2016, the Seahawks and Bennett agreed on a three year, $31.5 million deal. I’d say about $15 million goes towards gold chains, and the other $15 million goes towards hats. Have you seen a picture of Michael Bennett without a chain or some kind of hat? I didn’t think so.
Pete Carroll: Gum. Just watch him on the sidelines, and you’ll understand why.
Maybe I’m not 100% accurate on most (or any) of these, but it’s fun to think about. Especially when nothing is really going on right now in the league.
What would you do with $20 million a year?
