If you are thinking about buying a few Seahawks jerseys, this is a must read for you.

You may be a new fan who wants to start following an NFL team, or you may be a die-hard Seahawks fan who’s craving a new blue and green Nike jersey. Either way, here are some Seahawks jerseys you should buy, and some you should not buy here in 2017.

OFFENSIVE PLAYERS

More from 12th Man Rising

Russell Wilson: Yes! Buy! Wilson is just now hitting the prime of his career with the Seahawks, and he’s under contract for three more seasons. Russ doesn’t look like he’ll be going anywhere for a long time, so his #3 jersey is a safe buy for any Seahawks fan!

Eddie Lacy: No! The first-year Seahawks back is only on a one-year deal, which does not mean great things for his future in Seattle. His #27 jersey may be a hot commodity this year, but if the Seahawks decide not to re-sign him after this season, it could just have been a big waste of money.

Jimmy Graham: Nope. Until he signs an extension with the team, I would stay away from buying a Jimmy jersey. Why, you ask? Jimmy Graham is a fantastic tight end, but with great talent comes great salary, and the Seahawks may not be able to afford him when he becomes an unrestricted free agent next season.

Tyler Lockett: Yes. This one is easy, he’s one of the youngest talents on the team. He will certainly be getting a big contract from Seattle once his rookie contract is up. He has only played two seasons in Seattle, and he’s already a fan favorite. I see a lot of #16 jerseys, and it’s a great investment.

DEFENSIVE PLAYERS

Richard Sherman: No! Sherm is one of the better-known players in the NFL, but his future with the Seahawks is a giant question mark. He was involved in plenty of trade rumors this offseason, and his age is definitely a factor. Seattle may not re-sign Sherman once his contract is up after the 2018 season, leaving you with a sad vacant #25 jersey.

Bobby Wagner: Yes, a million times yes! The former MVP candidate and perennial DPOY candidate is just now in the prime of his career, much like Russell Wilson. He doesn’t look like he is slowing down anytime soon, and it looks like he’ll be in Seattle for quite some time. Wagner is a fantastic jersey to buy for any Seahawks fan!

Cliff Avril: No… as much as I want to say yes, it’s just not practical. One of my favorite defensive players, Cliff Avril is getting up in age and his long-term future in Seattle isn’t great. The Seahawks want to get younger on the defensive line, as seen from the previous three drafts. Michael Bennett signed a big contract extension, but Avril has yet to do that.

MISCELLANEOUS

Retro Seahawks jerseys: Absolutely! Whether it’s Walter Jones, Steve Largent, or the late Cortez Kennedy, any retro Seahawks jersey is a great investment. These players certainly don’t play anymore, but wearing their iconic jerseys is paying respect to the great things they did on the field several years ago. Additionally, you don’t have to worry about them being traded, cut, or signed by another team, so it’s a solid idea!

’12’ jersey: Yes. The 12th man is loud and proud, and very willing to make themselves known. Repping a 12 jersey is a statement, and like the retro jersey, it never gets old or outdated.
