The Seahawks’ Pete Carroll ranks second among NFL coaches, according to a Big Lead column. Is this right?

This is the season for lists. Everyone and their sister-in-law has an NFL list about something. My own sister-in-law, Laura, has an unpublished yet genius one about the size of quarterbacks’ hands. I cannot judge, though. 12th Man Rising have done our own lists about everything. In the works Todd Vandenberg has one on each players favorite cheese (this is not true).

So it makes sense to comment on one that incorporates the Seahawks’ coach, Pete Carroll. He is the second-best coach in the NFL, according to the Big Lead. Carroll has a short snippet of why is he ranked so high. Speaking for 12s, I think we can say how thankful we are that Carroll decided to leave lovely southern California for the cloudy Pacific Northwest. (For the record and for anyone who has never lived in Seattle, the summers are beautiful; do not let the haters tell you any differently.) Carroll may not have won five Super Bowls (yet!), but he certainly has made the Seahawks into a perennial contender.

As for the rest of the NFC West coaches, Bruce Arians (Arizona Cardinals) is number nine, Kyle Shanahan (whom has never been a head coach, take this as you will) of the San Francisco 49ers is number 13 and the Los Angeles Rams coach, Sean McVay, is number 23.

Seattle decides to not turn it over!

The Seahawks rank 26th in OverTheCap’s listing (yet another list, of course) of roster changes from 2016. This means that the Seahawks’ roster made the seventh fewest changes with only 14.6 percent of overall snaps lost to players who did not return in 2017 10.3 percent of quality snaps were lost. This should translate into goodness.

Of course, the New York Jets are 23rd in the rankings and they are not good. So take this list with a bacon maple doughnut from Top Pot.

Lastly, there are only 65 days until the Seahawks’ season starts! The anticipation builds…
