Richard Sherman was all that stood between us and our robot overlords
Richard Sherman faces his ultimate test
The day arrives. Sherman comes home to Compton. He is ready for the challenge of his life. Not just his life, but all our lives. If he can’t push back the onslaught of CHAMP (I really wish they’d named it that), do any of us stand a chance? The man is one of the best ever. So what am I going to do when the robots come to my door? Sherman has to stem the tide now. He must defeat the robot before it’s too late for all of us.
You can witness the highlights of the battle yourself. Please watch the entire video before proceeding. It’s barely over two and half minutes long. And it’s awesome.
So now you know. Sadly, Sherman eventually fell before the sixty mile per hour speed of the Mechanical Marino. The Electronic Elway had won. Not even Richard Sherman could defeat the Robotic Rodgers.
All I can say is, God help us all.
Let’s be serious for a moment
Really, this was an absolutely amazing competition. Okay, Vegas didn’t set a betting line. At least, I don’t think they did. But if they had, they’d probably take the bet off the table as soon as they opened it. Sherman defended 102 passes in his career, counting the postseason. A four time Pro Bowler doesn’t lose against a bunch of high school kids. Everyone expected Richard Sherman to win.
Everyone but the Compton Robotics Club, that is. By the way, if you didn’t click on the link for the Compton Robotics Club, I encourage you to do so, and like their Facebook page. They’ll appreciate it!
The best part of the video is Sherman’s conversation with the winning team after the competition. Sherman said,
"“There’s so much more to aspire to outside the city. I promise you. There’s so many great things and I wish nothing but the best for you guys. Continue to work hard obviously throughout your life. Put in the work, believe in yourselves, and always aspire, whatever you believe.”"
Once again, Richard Sherman gives back to his community. Once again, he inspires future generations. Now, if he can just defeat CHAMP 2.0, I may sleep better at night.
