Ranking and predicting the NFC West quarterbacks, Seahawks-style
By Lee Vowell
2. Carson Palmer – Arizona Cardinals
Palmer just missed having a great career. He once played for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Oakland Raiders. Does anyone even remember the Raiders stint? He then came to Arizona, mostly stayed healthy, and led the Cardinals to mostly successful seasons. Palmer led the Cardinals to a 1-0-1 record against Seattle and was very good in the week 16 meeting. The Seahawks should have won both games, though.
There is much speculation that 2017 will be Palmer’s last season. Possibly, receiver Larry Fitzgerald’s last as well. If Palmer thinks this is his final year, he would have extra motivation to end his career successfully. Only two years ago, the Cardinals were 13-3 and made it to the NFC Championship game. In 2014, Arizona was 6-0 in the games Palmer started. He is a talented quarterback.
The issue for Palmer is he has suffered seasons where he missed the majority of them due to injury. Fans always appear to anticipate that Palmer will miss games due to injury.
Prediction: Palmer . will stay healthy in 2017 and the Cardinals will make the playoffs. Long-term the Cardinals might have issues with so many important aging players, but those players are still good enough for Arizona to threaten the Seahawks for division champs. Palmer will throw for 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions this season.
