Some quick day three Seahawks training camp notes

The biggest news of the day, of course, is that Kam Chancellor signed a three-year contract extension with the Seahawks. But some other things happened too.

Ok, let’s start with Chancellor. Earlier today I wrote a bit more about how the Seahawks signed their strong safety to a three year extension. Still, this news is great enough to share in thousands of articles. (I promise, I will not put you through that.) Having Chancellor around until, most likely, the end of his career is, to use his word, a blessing. This is for all involved, not just Chancellor. The fans are happy. The team is happy. The player is happy.

For the record, that is a win-win-win.

Other notable stuff

Tyler Lockett

Coach Pete Carroll said Lockett worked out twice on Tuesday and should come off the PUP list soon. That Earl Thomas and Lockett appear to both be ready for week one after having suffered broken legs late in 2016 is a wonderful thing. It has been a good day in the Seahawks shire.

Malik McDowell

McDowell is assumed to be back in Seattle meeting with team doctors. He was not on the practice field today, so whatever is going on with him is still to be discovered. At least he is back in town. Carroll said today that he had not met with McDowell. This makes the situation seem quite grave, at least temporarily. Hoping for the best here, but really…it is only hope at this point. There is a chance if McDowell does not pass his physical that he could lose some of his signing bonus and not be placed on the active roster.

C.J. Prosise

Prosise was back at practice today after dealing with what appears to have been food poisoning. Normally I would love to be in Prosise’s position, but not these past few days. Carroll says he will be “full go” on Thursday.

Justin Senior

Senior, a rookie drafted in the sixth round, would have had a tough time making the roster as it is. Carroll announced he did not pass his physical and is dealing with a knee issue. Chances are slim Senior is on Seattle’s roster this season.

Blair Walsh

After being a not-very-good 2-4 in field goals on Monday, Walsh went 6-6 on Tuesday. My hope is that the Blair Walsh project is only scary to opposing teams this season, but it is pretty frightening to this 12 so far.

No practice on Wednesday. This means, hopefully, no injuries for the Seattle Seahawks.
