Several players are held out at Seahawks camp today in preparation for Sunday’s first preseason game. The offensive line continues to take shape.

Tyler Lockett, Jeremy Lane and Doug Baldwin are at least three players who will not play in the Seahawks first preseason game. On Sunday, Seattle plays the Los Angeles Chargers at 5 pm PT somewhere in the Los Angeles area.

Players missing preseason games are not much of an issue. If this were week one of the regular season, most likely Lockett and Baldwin would play. Lane might not. In fact, Shaquill Griffin continues to play well enough to start of his own merit. And he will on Sunday.

Whichever assumed starters play on Sunday, it will not be much. The Seahawks have 90 guys to evaluate. A good bunch of them are locks to be on the roster already and do not need more critique.

The offensive line line seems set for now

Seattle will start George Fant at left tackle, Luke Joeckel at left guard, Justin Britt at center, Mark Glowinski at right guard and Germain Ifedi at right tackle. Head coach Pete Carroll said on 710 ESPN Seattle’s Brock and Salk show today that since the days of sitting out after the fight with Frank Clark, Ifedi has had his best practices of camp.

The only real question at this point seems to be Glowinski. The Seahawks have alternated he and Oday Aboushi at guard quite a bit in camp. Aboushi graded well in 2016 as a pass-blocker but poorly as a run-blocker. Either the Seahawks think Aboushi has improved greatly in run-blocking or they are not really going with a more run-heavy offense in 2017.

Speaking of Frank Clark…

Carroll said today that Clark stood up in front of the entire locker room and apologized for his punch to the face of Ifedi. Carroll says he now considers the matter to be in the past.

Carroll also said he envisions Clark to play on the interior of obvious passing downs this year, along with Michael Bennett. This sounds pretty awesome to me.

Jon Ryan also plays with the Seahawks, He’s the punter.
