The Seahawks season does not really start today, but finding out how Seattle’s 2017 version will look like does. On Sunday, the Seahawks play the Los Angeles Chargers in the first preseason game of the season for Seattle.

Though the starters for both the Seahawks and Chargers will not play much, 12s should – and will – tune in to watch. Several Seahawks will not play at all, but some key ones will. Russell Wilson will play for a couple of series. Eddie Lacy will start at running back. The offensive line will be an interesting unit to see how long the current starters play. And who does well.

Defensively, rookie cornerback Shaquill Griffin will be a player to watch. How will he do in his first kinda sorta real game action as a Seahawk? Jeremy Lane will not play for Seattle, so if Griffin plays extremely well he could show he should be the starter week one.

Blair Walsh will need to show he can be productive as well. Kickers, especially kickers with a new team, do not have a long leash. We have already seen 2016 second-round pick Roberto Aguayo get cut in Tampa Bay. Walsh has his doubters. Let’s hope he proves them wrong.
