Best offensive scenario for Seahawks versus Titans – run run run

Once the run looks solid, go to the air

As we’ve already said, Russell Wilson has not played well up to now. Frankly, that can’t be blamed on the offensive line. They were bad last season and Wilson still played well. He’s made far too many poor throws, and just hasn’t looked like he’s in sync yet.

The cure: more Jimmy Graham. Yes, I wrote that if he has an MVP type season it’s a bad sign for the offense. That’s absolutely true, as it would show that the Seahawks still have no running game . I think it’s safe to say that nine yards on four catches will not put Graham in the MVP conversation. Nine targets in two games doesn’t exactly match the talk about getting Graham more involved, either.

If Darrell Bevell can’t figure out how to call for number 88, Wilson needs to do so. Bevell abandoned the run too soon in Green Bay, and so far this season forgot he has a 900 yard producer at tight end. Graham needs more opportunities than he’s getting right now. Not a lot more, as he averaged six targets per game last year. Graham needs to make the most of those opportunities, too.

Everyone needs to contribute in the passing game

It isn’t just Graham, of course. Paul Richardson needs to make more of the routine catches, as well as the spectacular one-handed grabs. A few catches out of the backfield by Carson, Prosise, or even Mr. Lacy would be good, too. And Doug Baldwin – well, he just needs to keep doing his thing.

Of course, it all starts with Number 3. Russell Wilson, remember who you are. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear Trevone Boykin jumped back on the active roster. Luckily, some writers – Jared Dubin of CBS Sports in this case – think the Titans are the cure for the Seahawks offensive

So, it’s time for Darrell Bevell to commit to the run. It would be nice if Eddie Lacy is part of that, but if not, it’s time for Thomas Rawls to step in and help Carson. It’s time for Bevell to get Jimmy Graham a few more shots, especially in close. And it’s definitely time for Russell Wilson to play like he has his entire career.
