The Seattle Seahawks were able to get a huge win on the road, beating the Rams 16 to 10, and improving their record to 3-2.

Beating the Rams always seems be a tough task for the Seahawks, but they were able to come together on Sunday to get the win. The team is now 3-2 and feeling good heading into their bye week. The Seahawks offense struggled for much of the game, but that is expected when playing the Rams. The defining moment for the offense was a 7 minute 34 second drive in the second quarter, ending in a touchdown to Jimmy Graham.

That touchdown drive was even more impressive when you consider that the series before Russell Wilson threw a gut-wrenching interception in Rams territory. Wilson showed, once again, that he is resilient when faced with adversity by bouncing back with a touchdown the very next possession.

The offensive line also played good enough versus Aaron Donald and the Rams defensive line. In past Rams games the offensive line got completely obliterated. In this game they held their own.

Blair Walsh also deserves a lot of credit. He went three for three on his field goal attempts, two of them over 45 yards. Walsh put points on the board when the offense stalled.

The Seahawks offense still has a ways to go, but I have faith that they will improve each week. I have no doubt Russell Wilson will continue to elevate both his game and those around him.

The Seahawks defense played the hero role

The defense won this game for the Seahawks. Several players came through with spectacular plays. Players that stood out included Earl Thomas, Sheldon Richardson, Frank Clark and Jarran Reed.

Earl Thomas swatting the ball out of Todd Gurley’s hand was a magnificent play. He saved the Seahawks from giving up a touchdown. Thomas is someone that will always defend every blade of grass. He never gives up, even if the situation looks dire. He also had an interception in the fourth quarter, adding to his big day.

Sheldon Richardson showed that he has a knack for finding the ball. He made two huge game changing plays. Richardson made the Rams pay in the red zone when he picked off Jared Goff’s poorly thrown pass to Todd Gurley. Richardson also scooped up the ball after a Clark strip sack and returned it for 20 yards.

Seahawks Frank Clark is taking over

Both Frank Clark and Jarran Reed made crucial plays by pressuring Jared Goff and forcing two turnovers. This was a day where the defense needed to step up and make plays, and these two young players did just that.

Frank Clark’s play was as impressive as they come. He exploded off the edge, beat Pro Bowl left tackle Andrew Whitworth, and stripped the ball from Goff’s hand. This led to the Richardson fumble recovery and set up the offense to kick a field goal.

Jarran Reed’s play might be a bit underrated in comparison to Clark’s play, but it was equally important. Reed was able to pressure Jared Goff at the last second. Reed caused him to throw a flutter ball that resulted in Earl Thomas’s fourth quarter interception.

Pete Carroll always talks about forcing turnovers and finding the ball, and these four players contributed to four crucial takeaways. The defense gave up some plays, but they came through in big moments to hold the Rams to only 10 points.

When the Seahawks play the Rams, the games are always a battle to the last whistle. The Seahawks were focused, determined and weren’t getting back on the plane home without the victory.
