The Seahawks lost the season on Sunday. I mean, they lost to Washington. But it is a short week as Seattle plays on Thursday. Here are the injury updates heading into Thursday’s Arizona Cardinals matchup.

The Seahawks were missing two key defensive players on Sunday. But just because Earl Thomas and Sheldon Richardson did not play, Seattle had no business losing. If Seattle were to lose on Thursday to the Cardinals, bad stuff would happen. If the season were to end today, the Seahawks would not make the playoffs. Thursday is a must-win game. How does the health of Seattle shape up?

Earl Thomas

Thomas, of course, missed the game on Sunday. His absence did not mean Seattle gave up 500 points. But the simple fact is, when Thomas doesn’t play, the Seahawks do not win consistently. Seattle is 3-5 when Thomas doesn’t play since his career began.

Thomas is still dealing with a strained hamstring. Coach Pete Carroll said he did not know if Thomas could play this Thursday. Bradley McDougald played well in Thomas’s absence. But no one can replace Thomas’s presence.

Sheldon Richardson

Richardson had an oblique strain and could not play Sunday. Because of the short week. Carroll was not sure if Richardson could play Thursday either. Carroll told 710 ESPN Seattle on Monday, “…we’ll have to wait and see this week. (Richardson) made progress on gameday, but not enough, so that’s a good sign.”

The hopefuls

Running back C.J. Prosise is expected to play on Thursday. Prosise hardly ever can go on gamedays because he is always hurt. Carroll said, “He’ll play this week. He was really close last week.” Whether Prosise will play three downs and be re-injured is anyone’s guess.

Dion Jordan might play this week. He has been on the non-football injury list all season. If he can play, great. Seattle lost Marcus Smith during the game on Sunday due to a head injury. Smith is undergoing concussion protocol so he’s unlikely to play against the Cardinals.
