The Seahawks won on Thursday in Arizona. But Seattle lost quite a bit along the way. The season moves on with Seattle getting close to the playoffs. But Seattle will now be a different team.

The Seahawks may have won the game on Thursday against the Arizona Cardinals. But they may have lost a lot more. This game will probably be better remembered for the game Richard Sherman was injured. The cornerback appears to have torn his Achilles. If this is the case, Sherman will be lost for the year.

Seattle also suffered injuries to Jarran Reed, Duane Brown and possibly others. More will be known on the injuries on Friday.

For the good news, though, Seattle won and moves to 6-3. The Cardinals fall to 4-5 and their season is basically done. Seattle may have lost Sherman but now has 11 days to rest for playing the Atlanta Falcons.

Russell Wilson was not at his best, but he did not have a lot of time to throw either. He was sacked five times. Three of these sacks were while Brown was still playing left tackle, so the line breakdowns can’t totally be blamed on Brown not being on the field.

Still, Wilson made one of the best plays of his fantastic career to put Seattle in a position for its second touchdown.

Wilson did just enough to help the Seahawks win. Plus, we can put to rest any doubt Seattle hasn’t figured out how to get tight end Jimmy Graham the ball in the red zone. Graham had two touchdown catches on Thursday. Both on plays where he simply beat his man one on one.

Defense

The defense finished without Earl Thomas and Sherman and Kam Chancellor. It was a frightening sight. Thomas, of course, was out for the game. Sherman was lost in the third quarter. Chancellor went out late.

But before Chancellor left he was brilliant. He hit Larry Fitzgerald hard repeatedly, among others. Chancellor played the best he has all year.

But as I am writing this, I do not know the severity of Chancellor’s injury either. It may be nothing. Or it could be long-term.

Of course, Seattle won, but the carnage was awful. Thursday night football is a bad idea unless the teams have several days off before and after the game. The Seahawks won against the Cardinals, but they may have lost much more.
