The Seahawks and all 12s should be thankful that Thursday Night Football adds no additional strain to their players’ bodies. Nothing bad happened, right?

Well, nothing bad unless you count losing the best corner in the league to a torn Achilles. Yes, Richard Sherman is out for the season. He had this to say at the press conference after the game

"“I knew what was happening. It’s been bothering me all season. It was one of them things where you just have to play through it as long as you can and when it goes, it goes.” “I thought I could get the ball and once it popped, it was just unfortunate I couldn’t make the tackle. It’s unfortunate, it sucks. If it was anything I could play with, I would be out there.”"

You can watch the full video here. I’ll say one thing: Sherman always rocks the look, doesn’t he? Who knew you could get a tailored suit in Action Green? He also seemed to be in exceptionally good spirits, considering the circumstances. When asked if team doctors tried to talk him out of playing, he said, “Doctors have been trying to talk me out of playing for years.”

So Sherman is out. Other Seahawks injured include about half the team. Not quite, but close enough. The injury list:

  • Duane Brown
  • C.J. Prosise
  • Kam Chancellor
  • Michael Wilhoite
  • Frank Clark
  • Jarran Reed
  • Sheldon Richardson

C.J. Prosise was going to get injured, that’s a given, unfortunately. But the rest…that’s your new left tackle, both defensive tackles, a defensive end and the strong safety. All starters, and only Richardson got back into the game. For good measure, Doug Baldwin’s hip tightened up before the game, but he played through it. The Seahawks were already missing Earl Thomas, of course.
