Seahawks keep close to Rams after win on Sunday
All signs point to December 17th for the crowning of the NFC West. But there are many other opportunities to claim first place before then, as long as the Seahawks take care of business.
Seahawks win, here is how the rest of the West fared
Los Angeles Rams
Overall Record: 8-3
NFC West Record: 2-1
Record vs Seattle: 0-1
The Rams hosted the Saints on Sunday and got back on track after falling to Minnesota. Furthermore, it was not necessarily the ground game from running back Todd Gurley that brought a victory at home, but quarterback Jared Goff’s aerial attack. The second-year signal-caller was able to hook up with rookie wide receiver Cooper Kupp for 8 catches and 118 yards. While a majority of the focus is on Gurley, the Rams are putting forth a balanced offensive attack. With the win, L.A. remains one game ahead of Seattle in first place in the division.
Next Opponent: at Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals
Overall Record: 5-6
NFC West Record: 2-2
Record vs Seattle: 0-1
While this season is a disappointment for Cardinals faithful, the team pulled out a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The win did not come without drama. Arizona gave up 14 points in the fourth quarter, tying the game until kicker Phil Dawson kicked a field goal through for a win. Considering how the performance output for the Cardinals is this season, this is a fantastic victory for Arizona.
Next Opponent: vs Los Angeles Rams
San Francisco 49ers
Overall Record: 1-10
NFC West Record: 0-5
Record vs Seattle: 0-2
After the 24-13 loss to Seattle, the 49ers dropped both contests against the Seahawks in 2017. Truly the only bright spot in the game was witnessing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s first game action in red and gold. Since the 49ers are mathematically eliminated from post-season contention, there is a decision to make on whether to have their offense tries to develop chemistry with Garoppolo. If so, the 49ers might be competitive in the final games.
Next Opponent: at Chicago Bears
