Defensive Line: (A)

It was nice to see the defensive line lay some hits on Carson Wentz. They flat out got after the second year quarterback and made him uncomfortable all night. The Seahawks were able to get and impressive twelve hits on Wentz.

Frank Clark had a great night. He was nearly un-blockable as he recorded two sacks on his own and routinely disrupted the Wentz’s rhythm.

Linebackers: (A)

Give Bobby Wagner the Defensive Player of the Year. Like right now. Wagner has been an absolute stud this season and is a big reason why this defense continues to produce even without some of its best players. Wagner recorded thirteen tackles on the evening including 2.5 for loss. This man does not miss tackles. He is a machine and if he doesn’t win DPOY I think the award should be done away with altogether.

KJ Wright had a very solid game as well and he finished with a respectable ten tackles. If the guys in the middle keep playing like this, the defense may be able to fair better than I originally believed in the absence of Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman.

Defensive Backs: (B+)

Speaking of defensive backs, it was nice to have Shaquill Griffin back in the fold. The rookie played another solid game as he was often tasked with lining up against the much larger, Alshon Jeffery . Griffin was very physical against the Eagles recievers and didn’t blink while facing a formidable air attack.

Byron Maxwell had an up and down game, but ultimately made some nice plays down the stretch to put the game on ice. These defensive backs are playing with a chip on their shoulders and are out to prove they can go toe to toe with some of the league’s best.

Special Teams: (B+)

It was a pretty clean day for the Seahawks special teams. Perhaps the most encouraging moment in this phase of the game was seeing Blair Walsh knock through a 46-yard field goal with ease.
