The Seahawks have to win on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. Seattle is one game back on LA. A victory puts Seattle in a spot to win the division. A loss is something 12s don’t want to think about. Here’s what Seattle must do to win.

Russell Wilson needs to be great the entire game

I have a bit more on this in a recent article, but the fact is Wilson must start quickly and continue excellence throughout the game. We all know how fantastic Wilson is in the fourth quarter, but in the first half he hasn’t been elite. He must be for Seattle to get important points early on Sunday. Without these, the Rams will be able to stick to their offensive gameplan.

Bobby Wagner must play

No Wagner and the Seahawks suffer more than any other loss to any other player. Even Earl Thomas. Against Jacksonville, Wagner was lost to injury in the third quarter and the Jaguars scored on their next three offensive plays.

Wagner missed five games in 2014. In those missed games, Seattle’s defense gave up an average of 20 points a game. When Wagner returned in week 11, the Seahawks gave up an average of 6 points a game. Wagner means that much to Seattle.

We 12s all like to say Seattle has good depth and each has the next-man-up mentality. No one in the NFL can plug-and-play for Bobby Wagner. Sorry. If Wagner cannot play, or plays extremely limited, Seattle will not win.

Jimmy Graham must be good

Graham has had a pretty good season. But last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Graham had no catches, including two drops. He was targeted three times. The other target ended in an interception and Graham did not fight the defensive back for the ball.

Graham had eight targets and six catches against the Rams in week five. This included a touchdown. Stats like these are something Graham needs to have on Sunday.

Frank Clark needs to be good

Clark is a physical freak. He impacted the Philadelphia Eagles game in a way no other defensive lineman did. Clark also had an important sack and strip of Jared Goff which showed quickness and greatness.

The problem with Clark is he has simply been extremely inconsistent. Against the Jaguars? No tackles. Prior to the Eagles game for several weeks? No impact plays.

Clark is the future of the Seahawks defensive line rush. He needs to show his potential on Sunday.

Earl Thomas must play as well as he did in week five

The Seahawks won the first matchup this season against the Rams for a couple of reasons, but the biggest was the play of Earl Thomas. Thomas has forced two Rams to fumble at the goal line over the years. None was bigger than the week five matchup.

Thomas has also an interception of Goff. Plus, he had seven tackles and two passes defended.
