The Seahawks might know whether they can make the playoffs even before they play on Sunday. Dallas would also know their fate. Either way, the losing team has to start thinking about 2018.

The Seahawks and Cowboys are both 8-6. Both must win their last two games to have a chance at the postseason. If the Atlanta Falcons defeat the New Orleans Saints at 10 am PT, though, both teams will have no shot at the playoffs.

Dallas returns Ezekiel Elliott on Sunday, however. Seattle has struggled stopping opponents from rushing the ball lately. Elliott’s return is really bad new for the Seahawks, let’s be honest. Still, Seattle’s defense has a lot of pride. It will not want to get beat like it did against the Rams.

Offensively, the Seahawks have a better shot at scoring points against Dallas. The Cowboys defense is not nearly as good as the Rams or Jaguars. Both the Rams and Jaguars rank in the top five of opposing quarterback rating against. The Cowboys are 26th.

Seattle can win the game in Dallas. But they must do two things really well. Seattle needs to limit the Cowboys running the ball. And Russell Wilson needs to have a great game throwing.

Now if only the Falcons lose to the Saints, the Seahawks and Cowboys game will still have meaning.
