Both during and immediately after the Seahawks historic win over the Cowboys, some fans were in utter despair. Have a little faith, people.
So a lot of interesting things happened yesterday. The Seahawks won a game in which they gained more yards by penalty (142) than by offense (136). Their win was the first in the NFL with that weird scenario in over 50 years. It was last pulled off by the Eagles in 1966. That’s two stadiums ago, not just one. Yes, the Eagles played somewhere before the Vet.
The Seahawks also pulled off this neat stunt:
The #Seahawks defense become the first group to hold the #Cowboys without a TD in a game played with Ezekiel Elliott. Breaks the streak at 25 games.

Yes, I did verify this. You never know, Hawk Blogger could be a Russian infiltrator. Or even worse, from Los Angeles. Yeah, obviously he isn’t. You better be following him on Twitter, or you’re missing out.
No, the offense didn’t look great. Russell Wilson even took an ill-advised 12 yard sack. Yes, most sacks are ill-advised, but he seemed to have ample opportunity to throw this one away, rather than find the miraculously open man, which he usually does. Or did you doubters forget this play?
.@DangeRussWilson's ability to extend the play is just incredible. #Seahawks https://t.co/AijDXza4qW

Wilson has only pulled off this type of play about 50 times this season. I’ll take the rare sack in exchange for his wizardry, certainly.

I think some so-called 12s aren’t really 12s at all
Yes, apparently some so-called 12s did forget about Wilson’s skill. I read several tweets saying that Wilson needs to stop all this running around. There were even a few saying Seattle should trade him. Alright, so it was a bad play by Wilson, no doubt.
However: if it has somehow escaped your attention that it is precisely and only because of his ability to create something from nothing that the Seahawks have any wins at all, you should just stop watching football. At the least, stay off social media. You’re only proving that you are a mystifyingly ignorant ball of earwax and cataracts. You can’t hear or see reality. Or perhaps apply your standards to yourself, and demand to be fired next time you make a mistake at work. See how that works?
As for the general negativity, I’m totally fed up. As Richard Sherman tweeted:
1 win away from another 10 win season! The fans that have turned on players and coaches. You should be ashamed of yourself. This team has overcome Tons of adversity and shown incredible resolve. There are teams out there that haven’t had a winning season in years. Be grateful.

Hey, if we can’t have the best corner in the game on the field, it isn’t a total loss to have him live tweeting during the game.

Oh, but there was so much more to come
Then we have the whole Earl Thomas “Come get me” incident. If you missed this firestorm, after the game it was reported Thomas visited the Cowboys locker room and told coach Jason Garrett he wanted to play for Dallas. Just think, if he had talked to Brad Garrett, this wouldn’t have been such a big deal. Well, instead of screaming about it, let’s see Earl’s comments about this:

From what Thomas said, he went to visit Dez Bryant, and happened to see the Cowboys coach. He clearly stated “right now I’m in my prime”, and whenever the Seahawks “kick him to the curb”, he’d like to finish his career in Dallas.
Was the timing a little weird? Right after a huge win, sure. But he was in the Dallas locker room, after all. Think about that for a second. You just eliminated the other guys from a chance at the playoffs, and you decide to go hang out with your boy on that team. Earl does and says what he wants. He lives in the moment.
The NFL is a business. Eventually, anyone can be kicked to the curb. Joe Montana went to Kansas City, after all. I have no problem with Earl Thomas saying that he’d like to eventually end his career in Texas. A lot less problem than Bobby Wagner had with Thomas talking about his game after the Rams loss. And we see how terrible the defense played, right? This is nothing to worry about, 12s.

It’s one thing to be realistic and call out Russell Wilson on the rare occasion when he screws up. It makes perfect sense to consider salary cap and age and contemplate trades of players like Earl Thomas. It’s entirely another thing to say they’re done, and that star players should be traded because they talk about where they’d like to go near the end of their careers. For the 99.9 percent of 12s that believe, one last reminder of the great Christmas present we received from Justin Coleman:

Genius. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, 12s!
