Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians (for now, anyway) thought he’d slammed the Hawks good. The Seahawks responded with a Skywalker shoulder brush.

No doubt you’ve heard about this by now. Especially if you follow us as often as you should. If not, current Cardinals coach Arians (can someone fact-check that?) tried to throw some shade on Seattle’s home-field advantage. For the record, yes, the Cardinals have played well at CenturyLink for Arians (he’s still got the job, right?). And as Lee wrote in the article you already read, hopefully, the Seahawks are even better when they visit Arizona.

Pete Carroll basically laughed it off. Linebacker K.J. Wright literally said it was “kind of funny”. Wright had a lot to say about his own team, the future of Earl Thomas, Larry Fitzgerald, and, oh yeah, the comments by Coach Arians. Go ahead, listen in:

As Wright said, “That’s very small; it’s something that we don’t pay much attention to, and like I said, we always focus on ourselves. If that’s what it takes to get his team fired up, then that’s cool, but we know who we are and we know that we have business to take care of.”

And what did Coach (really, are you *sure* he’s still the coach?) Arians have to say about his trash talking? As reported by Shane Dale of ABC15.com,

"“Things that you say to your team in the locker room are supposed to be in the locker room,” he said. “But it got out. I said it. We have won three times in a row up there.”"

Well, not quite, Coach. Granted, three out of four is too often, though. Especially when the last one put the Seahawks on the road to face the Falcons in Atlanta. Arians added that he’d rather try to win a playoff spot than just play the spoiler role. As for playing the Seahawks in general,

"“But it’s fun. It adds something to the game,” he said. “I think it means a whole lot more to be playing them than somebody else.”"

The one thing I find really funny about all of this is the quote itself. Well, that, and that every hour there’s another story on whether Arians will be back next year. Or maybe not the quote, but how so much of the media has handled it. The quote has frequently been reported as “We know that’s our home field. We’re goin’ up there to kick their ___.”

I’m pretty sure that when the sitting President of the United States says the things he does, it’s okay to write the word “ass” when quoting a football coach. Even if he may not be a coach after Sunday night.
