The Seahawks play the Cardinals in the final regular season game of 2017. Hopefully for Seattle, this will not be the last game of the year. For Arizona, they are playing for pride only.

Seahawks versus Cardinals has come to have a certain ring to it. Over the last few years, Seattle and Arizona have been the best teams in the NFC West. No longer, at least for the Cardinals. Seattle will still finish second in the division in 2017 and could make the playoffs. Arizona will not.

Both of these teams, no matter the outcome on Sunday, will make a lot of offseason changes. Arizona will probably not have oft-injured quarterback Carson Palmer back next season. Future Hall of Fame receiver Larry Fitzgerald might also be gone. And head coach Bruce Arians? Who knows?

One thing to remember is that Arizona might be extra motivated against Seattle Sunday because they will want to play for Fitzgerald and Arians.

Seattle, of course, might lose multiple players this offseason. But the Seahawks will be playing for a chance to make the postseason this year. There is nothing more motivating than that.

If Seattle can keep Russell Wilson clean and Wilson can be his normally good self…If Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton doesn’t hit some of the open receivers he had in the Seattle-Arizona week nine matchup…If Seattle can muster any kind of running game…

These are are all big “ifs.” But still…If the Seahawks are successful on all three, Seattle will win. And fingers crossed the Atlanta Falcons lose. Atlanta plays the Carolina Panthers at the same time as Seattle-Arizona on Sunday. Atlanta needs to lose. Seattle has to win. If both these occur, Seattle will be back in the playoffs this year.
