The Seahawks start with more road games than home. A winning record through the first four weeks would be massive. And now David Irving is suspended for the Cowboys. Again.

The Seahawks start with three of their first four games away from CenturyLink Field. For a “retooling” team, a winning record early could help confidence. And now the Dallas Cowboys, who Seattle hosts in week three of 2018, will be without one of their better pass rushers, David Irving.

Seattle has an improving offensive line. I know, 12s have heard this before. But the talent on the line is as good as it has been in several years. The strength of the line rests in run blocking, especially with the addition of D.J. Fluker. So any missing opposing edge rushers is a good thing.

Our friends at FanSided’s Dallas Cowboys blog, The Landry Hat, feel not only have the Cowboys had a horrible offseason, but Irving’s suspension only makes it worse. Yet, this is only good news for Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.

Seattle ideally wants to remake the offense. The Seahawks drafted Rashaad Penny to help get back to a run heavy offense. Chris Carson’s return from injury will help. But Seattle needs to rely on Wilson as he makes the offense difficult to defend. If he can roam around and make the Wilson magic happen, good things follow.

Seattle’s first home game of 2018 is against the Cowboys. And let’s be honest, nearly every home game for Seattle this coming season is a must-win. The team needs to get back to ownership of the turf near Elliott Bay. In 2017, Seattle went 4-4 at home. This would be unacceptable in 2018.

Next: Was the Seahawks offseason any good?

Russell Wilson should not have to score every one of his team’s offensive touchdowns but one ever again. Maybe this season Seattle can get some rushing scores. But if Dallas is missing Irving, Wilson might need to throw four touchdowns to win. A win is win no matter how small or big.
