Seahawks will feast no matter who starts in the desert

Rosen looked good in camp,, but so did Bradford. And as Haringey says, a veteran quarterback is almost always a safer bet than a rookie. Especially against a defense like Seattle. But there’s the rub. Haringey also mentions that Bradford is, shall we say, a bit fragile. Bradford actually has a pretty good record of playing in the fourth game of the season, as he’s only missed two in his eight year career. Missing 25 percent of those games is only impressive in the context of missing 48 of 128 possible games, or 38 percent.

So I’ll assume the Fragile Flinger will make the start against the Seahawks. That’s fine by me. Over his career, Bradford is 2-4 versus Seattle. He’s thrown four touchdowns and six picks, been sacked 17 times, and has a passer rating of just 65.4, nearly 20 points below his career average.

So sure, start the veteran by all means. And if Rosen beats him out by week four – or just as likely, Bradford breaks his wrist opening a jar of pickles – I’m sure Shaquill Griffin, Bradley McDougald and crew will be happy to welcome the rookie quarterback to the league. As long as Kevin Kolb isn’t warming up on the sidelines, victory in the desert is assured. Seahawks 24, Cardinals 13.

Next: Starting running back will earn it by performance, not expectation

There you have it, the roadmap to 4-0. I may have mentioned this before, but yes, I’m an optimist. Now as for that game against the Los Angeles Rams, that could be a different story entirely. But I do see it as not only a measuring stick, but as an early fight for the division lead. By no means do I think the Rams contest will be an easy game, nor will it be an easy season for the Seahawks. But I see these first four games as a bit easier, despite three of them being on the road. Time – and September – will tell.
