According to Las Vegas, the Seahawks could fire Pete Carroll during the 2018 season. Where does Carroll rank as far as coaches Vegas thinks will be let go?

Earlier on Saturday, I wrote about how Las Vegas oddsmakers think the Seahawks Russell Wilson could win the NFL MVP. But last week Vegas put out numbers saying Seattle could let go of head coach Pete Carroll this year. Carroll was in the top half of the league among coaches who could be terminated.

This is a bit surprising since Carroll has been extremely successful since he came to Seattle in 2010. The Seahawks have missed the playoffs just twice in those eight seasons. Plus, Seattle won one Super Bowl and should have won the following season as well.

Sure, Seattle seemingly took a step back last year. But missing in the playoffs in 2017 could have been for several reasons. To name all the injuries Seattle had on defense alone would create a whole new article, for instance.

But maybe Carroll knows he could be fired. He changed both coordinators this offseason. Offensively, the could be a good move. Darrell Bevell was a nice guy but made some dumb calls. Like the one that lost Seattle that second Super Bowl. Ken Norton is the new defensive coordinator, but he had poor results as the DC with the Oakland Raiders.

But is Carroll really a possibility to be fired in-season? That seems extremely unlikely.

Next: The new face of the Seahawks is...

And Vegas at least has more faith in the Seahawks coach than they did in Hue Jackson (and why not?) and Marvin Lewis, to name two. Returning Raiders coach Jon Gruden has the same odds as Carroll of being fired. And we all know Gruden is not going to be let go after one season back.
