Seahawks announce inactives for Broncos game
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks announced several inactive players for week one against the Denver Broncos. The list hurts interior defensive line depth the most.
The Seahawks take on the Broncos in week one of the 2018 regular season on Sunday. And Seattle isn’t healthy. After a 2017 season filled with injury, I feel like I am having flashback issues. The list of players not able to go for Seattle on Sunday are:
Poona Ford
Nazair Jones
D.J. Fluker
Mike Davis
Shalom Luani
Jordan Simmons
K.J. Wright
12s knew that Wright would be out and Shaquem Griffin would start in his place. Fluker was also known to be out. J.R. Sweezy will start in Fluker’s position.
But where Seattle will hurt the most is at defensive tackle. Jones and Ford being out means Tom Johnson, Jarran Reed and Shamar Stephen will see extra snaps. The temperature in Denver on Sunday is 86 degrees. This means the possibility of the interior of the defensive line being tired early. Not great.
And this comes after lots of banged-up players at right corner. Basically, the Seahawks defense is thin. And this is to start the season.
Davis being out means C.J. Prosise will be more important. Of course, Prosise has injury issues of his own, so hopefully he can stay healthy enough to play the entire game.
Finally, 12s have to hope no one else gets hurt during the game. The team is already thinner than in previous seasons with proven talent. If Seattle loses any other key players, we might as well start looking toward the 2019 draft.
