The Seahawks were not overly healthy entering week one against the Broncos. When Seattle left Denver, things were only worse.

The Seahawks got some very bad news on Monday when it comes to injuries. Doug Baldwin appears to have a Grade 2 MCL sprain. Unknown is how much time Baldwin will miss at this point. The receiver wasn’t healthy the entire preseason already.

The bad part is that Baldwin injured his right knee and in preseason his issue was with the left knee. Baldwin is not an old receiver, of course, but one could wonder if these injuries might linger and affect Baldwin the rest of the season. Or possibly for the rest of his career.

The Seahawks other really important player who needs to return sooner rather than later is K.J. Wright. Wright, of course, missed Sunday’s loss to the Broncos. Seattle had hoped that rookie Shaquem Griffin, who was so good in preseason, could step in and be productive. He couldn’t.

Wright might miss week two as well. Coach Pete Carroll did not sound sure when Wright would return. Baldwin is a key player, obviously, but Seattle has other receivers who can make plays. Based on Sunday, the Seahawks have no one to fill Wright’s role. Not well anyway.

Finally, D.J. Fluker appears not ready to play week two either. J.R. Sweezy was not great in his place. But there is no way of knowing how good Fluker will be either. The right side of the Seahawks line is a bit of a mess that has no quick fix.
