Seahawks mid-week injury report vs. Lions: Everyone plays!
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks play the Lions on Sunday. And Seattle appears to be getting healthier as the season grinds on.
Finally it seems the Seahawks will get K.J. Wright back this year. After having his knee scoped in preseason and missing the first six games of 2018, the linebacker is practicing this week with the expectation he will play against the Lions on Sunday.
Seattle has played pretty well in the absence of Wright, so it will be interesting to see how different he makes the defense. Wright is also playing for his next contract. It would be no surprise if Seattle extend Wright past this season. But Wright probably should show he can come back at a high level after knee surgery.
Seattle should also have tight end Ed Dickson play his first snaps of the season Sunday. Dickson injured his quad in offseason training. This was after Seattle signed the free agent to a three-year and $14 million contract.
Dickson hasn’t produced a lot in the way of catching passes and then running with the ball over the past several years but he can block. And this is really what the Seahawks want him to do anyway. Like injured Will Dissly, Dickson will be good at creating holes for Chris Carson and company.
Jarran Reed did miss practice on Wednesday but just with an illness. Hopefully he will be ready by Sunday because Reed has played at a Pro Bowl level this year. Seattle will need Reed to help stop Kerryon Johnson.
If Wright, Dickson and Reed are all able to play on Sunday then the Seahawks will have every player on their active roster available. How many teams can say that in week seven? And Seattle will need all their depth and talent to beat Detroit and stay close in the playoff race.
