Gareon Conley target for the Seahawks

The Seahawks can continue to retool their roster before Tuesday’s trade deadline. Three cornerbacks really stand out as prime candidates for them.

The NFL trade deadline arrives at 1 pm PT October 30. Last year the Seahawks started rebuilding their offensive line by landing tackle Duane Brown. This time around, Seattle can continue their revamping of the Legion of Boom in mid-season. Here are three players that would certainly look good in Seahawks gear.

Cornerback Gareon Conley of the Raiders is worth a look. In case you haven’t heard, Jon Chucky Gruden is shipping all the good talent out of Oakland. First it was Khalil Mack, now Amari Cooper. At this rate, the Raiders will have half of the first round in the 2019 draft. Maybe Chucky isn’t so crazy after all. As for Conley, the former first round pick will go for a lot less than that.

Defensive coordinator Ken Norton is of course very familiar with Conley, as he coached him last year. It’s been reported that the Raiders aren’t interested in moving Conley. For a guy who supposedly is in the team’s long-term picture, it sure is funny that he played just 12 snaps on defense against the division rival Chargers. And against Seattle, Conley was in for just three special teams snaps. Seriously Chucky, you traded Khalil Mack, but Conley is untouchable?

Conley hasn’t played particularly well this year, although he does have a pick six. Then again, how many Raiders can you name that have played well? Last season Conley showed a lot of promise. I’m betting a reunion with his former defensive coordinator would get him back on track.
