Seahawks vs. Chargers: Staff Predictions mostly sense a Seattle win
By Lee Vowell
The 4-3 Seahawks play the 5-2 Chargers on Sunday. Seattle has won four of their last five games. A win over Los Angeles would be huge.
The Seahawks are playing better than most people would have anticipated after seven games. And the way Seattle is winning makes 2018 even sweeter for 12s (so far). Seattle can run the ball well and the defense is playing well. Good stuff.
So how does our staff see the Seahawks versus Chargers game unfolding on Sunday?
Kevin Daggett (co-host of the 12th Man Rising podcast)
Yeah yeah, the LA Chargers (still sounds weird) are 5-2 but who have they beat? Well, no one good. The Hawks are finally playing as a “whole” team lately. Run game is solid and the wide receivers are the best we have had in a while and making great catches. The pass rush is improving and the young defensive backs are stepping up. And Russell Wilson is being Russell Wilson. i still have no idea what the hell was going on with the offense at the beginning of the season but it appears to be resolved now. It’s a long way off but lets hope we can keep it together and squeeze into the playoffs.

The Seahawks are starting to hit their stride, winning four of their last five. Los Angeles is a solid football team and can find themselves in the postseason if they really want to. The Chargers are 5-2, only losing to the Rams and Chiefs. And they will be coming into this game pretty confident in their loaded offense and decent defense. It will be a test for both teams. I think Philip Rivers just makes too many plays on this young defense, but it will be close. It all depends on the young secondary, who have been playing very well this season. But I just do not see Seattle making the crucial stops (just not enough).
Prediction: Chargers 35 Seahawks 31

Initially this looks like a very tough game. The Chargers are 5-2, and rank in the top ten in offense, turnovers and rushing touchdowns. Then you look at their record and realize they lost to the only two good teams they faced. Beating the 49ers, Bills, Raiders and Browns doesn’t exactly mean you’re top notch. I expect the Seahawks to continue to run well, and Russell Wilson to continue his surgery on opposing secondaries.
Prediction: Seahawks 27 Chargers 19

The Chargers are a bit of a difficult team to gauge. They have an excellent quarterback in Rivers and a solid running game. Their defense has been pretty good in 2018. But as Todd pointed out, who have they really played? Los Angeles has played two teams with winning records. They gave up 38 points to the Chiefs and 35 to the Rams. I don’t think Seattle gets that many but I think at home Seattle gets enough to win.
Prediction: Seahawks 28 Chargers 24
