Seahawks had more stars in this game than players. Well, almost

The Seahawks defense  actually played quite well. I totally understand giving up the 54 yard bomb to the fan, or pizza guy, or fourth string tight end, whoever he was. I mean, who covers a guy with ten snaps under his belt?

Okay, yes, that was really awful. But other than that and the opening 29 yard “drive”, Seattle’s defense was solid. They allowed two sustained drives that resulted in 10 points. Yeah, you can’t get burned for a bomb by a rookie, but for once they reigned their mistakes in as the game wore on.

There were other happy bits from this game, too. Doug Baldwin finally looks healthy, or close to it. He led the Hawks in receiving with seven catches, had his first – yes, first – touchdown of the year, and made a sick double move that proved his injury is on the mend, but broke the ankles of the hapless DB that tried to stay with him.

Ed Dickson now has as many touchdowns as the guy he replaced, Jimmy Graham. Dickson didn’t even see his first action until week eight, so Graham has twice as many starts. The guy who was supposed to just be a blocking tight end now has two touchdowns on four catches; that’s what you call efficient.

After such a terrible start, this was ultimately such a satisfying win. We’d all heard enough about how Green Bay had such a strong running game. Uh, that would be a hard no. We heard how they were netter against the run than the Seahawks. Again, 48 yards for a 4.0 average versus 176 for 5.5. Not so much, Green Bay. Yes, Aaron Rodgers is one of the best ever, but when the game was on the line, the Seahawks pass rush got to him. Each and every one of the Seahawks came up big in their latest must win game.
