Under-the-radar 49ers

12th Man Rising: Who is one under-the-radar offensive player and one defensive player for San Francisco that might make a big impact on Sunday’s game?

Panacy: On offense, I’m going to look at second-year wide receiver Kendrick Bourne. The undrafted free agent has become something of a red-zone weapon for San Francisco this season. And while he was mostly absent from the team’s offensive plans last week, I’d suspect Shanahan looks to work Bourne in as a weapon this Sunday.

Defensively, it’s a bit harder to say. I liked nickel cornerback K’Waun Williams‘ efforts last Sunday versus the Buccaneers’ ground game. Maybe that replicates in Week 13.

Who wins when Seattle plays San Francisco in week 13

12th Man Rising: Who wins when the Seahawks play the 49ers in week 13 and why?

Panacy: The short answer? Seattle because it has a far better roster than San Francisco. When was the last time a 49ers team won at CenturyLink?

The long version would include quarterback Nick Mullens playing in the most hostile environment he’s faced since becoming a pro. The Seahawks defense, while perhaps not as dominant as just a few years ago, will make him uncomfortable. Just think, the Buccaneers’ pass defense is terrible. And Mullens looked completely out of sorts.

On the flip side, the 49ers defense has been prone to giving up a multitude of broken plays all year long. And what’s Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson known for taking advantage of? Capitalizing on broken plays. Unless Week 13 turns into one of those weird games with a lot of unforeseen turnovers (San Francisco hasn’t been getting those this season), the Niners will likely let this one get away from them early.
