Seahawks fans the 11th best in the NFL? I don’t think so.

In FanSided’s yearly ranking of the best fan bases known to humankind, Seahawks rank as 11th best in the NFL. And this is simply wrong.

First of all, I am clearly biased. I want the Seahawks to win every game of every season for the length of time to world continues to exist. This is partly why I think FanSided’s 2018 Fandom 250, an annual ranking of the 250 best fan bases to do with anything in the universe, is wrong.

But the fact that I happen to be a fan of the Seahawks does not also take away from a bit of objectivity. 12s are great for a lot of reasons and this is why the 12th Man should rank higher on FanSided’s list.

CenturyLink sells out every game

This isn’t just this season; It is every game and every year. Even when the team was not great prior to 2011, 12s showed up and made noise. Plus, the way fans react during games is intelligent. We don’t just make noise to make noise. Listen to the TV during a game. The reaction from the crowd at CenturyLink is a reaction to a moment, not a general reaction to how much we dislike a certain team or another bad call by the officials.

12s change the face of the earth itself

You smart people remember Beast Quake version 1.0, don’t you? And what other fans have literally created an earthquake? 12s did this during a wildcard game in 2011 when Marshawn Lynch ran through and over and beyond the poor Saints defenders.

Fans of other teams, let me ask you: Have you registered seismic activity when responding to a play from your favorite team? No. 12s are better.

12s break sound barriers too

Twice 12s at CenturyLink have broken the Guinness World Book of Records, um…record, for the loudest fan noise at a sporting event. 12s went over 136 dB two times and that is louder than an airplane. Or Richard Sherman when he is crying over the field to an official after one of his fellow teammates has been penalized for hitting Russell Wilson in the head.

And so what if the Chiefs fans have since broken the sound record and the Browns are the top choice for having the “best” fans, according to Fandom 250, in the NFL? Have you ever been to Kansas City or Cleveland? No offense to those two lovely cities but they pale in comparison to the greatness of Seattle. Their fans have little else to do than go to football games. And even then, 12s still outdo them!

Next. Staff predictions for Seahawks vs. Vikings in week 14. dark

At least one thing is easily clear to Fandom 250, 12s are the best fans in the NFC West. No other division team’s fans rank above Seattle’s. The Cardinals’ and Rams’ fans aren’t in the top 250 at all. 49ers fans rank 87th, just two behind 12s.

Finally, I am just glad I didn’t have to put a list of 250 fan bases together. The list is a great read, even if they do have the Seahawks fans ranked incorrectly. I just didn’t realize there was so much stuff out there.
