Receivers/tight ends

This has been a weird year for Seattle’s wideouts because they’ve been good but mostly without Doug Baldwin being great. In other words, this has been the year of Tyler Lockett. Lockett, a former Pro Bowl returner could (should?) make the 2018 Pro Bowl as a receiver.

And if Lockett does, it is because he has made himself into a very good receiver. He has always had the speed but has also been injured. One can tell that this offseason Lockett made it his mission to learn how to be a great route runner.

Lockett is fifth in the NFL with nine touchdown catches and that is a career high. He has also caught 44 of 56 targets. And he has 713 yards receiving which is also a career high.

Baldwin has played in ten games in 2018 but it doesn’t feel like it. Early in the season he was physically limited and in weeks one and five had just one target in each game. But Baldwin is still Wilson’s most trusted receiver and catches everything thrown to him.

The tight ends have seen limited throws but the addition of Ed Dickson was still a good one. Nick Vannett has played well but not great. And Will Dissly was the starter in week two and was tremendous in four games before being hurt. He will be the starter and a weapon in future years.

Backup summary

Seattle has gotten good play out of second-year receiver David Moore. He isn’t Wilson’s number two or three target but does have five touchdowns on 22 catches. That is efficient.
