Seahawks vs. Chiefs: Staff predictions for week 16
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks play the Chiefs on Sunday night in week 16. Here is what our staff thinks will happen.
The Seahawks don’t have to win on Sunday when the Chiefs play at CenturyLink to make the postseason. But a Seattle win would end any drama for the team’s final game of the season against the Cardinals.
Seattle needs just one win to give themselves a chance to get to the Super Bowl. Kansas City, though, is really good. Here is how the 12th Man Rising staff sees the game going.
Kevin Daggett (co-host of the 12th Man Rising podcast)
Difficult to write this without expletives but this is a family website. WHAT WAS THAT ON SUNDAY AGAINST THE 49ERS?! Overall poor play outside of the run game for Seattle. Yes the officiating was sad but you cannot give them a reason to call penalties. I was always taught that penalties show a lack of discipline. You can make your own assessment but that’s mine. My wife said, “If you can’t beat a 3-10 team, you don’t deserve to be in the playoffs.” Touche, Anne. The Seahawks are better than that mess Sunday. Sea Bass (Sebastian Janikowski) better get it together. No excuses.
Prediction: Chiefs 27 Seahawks 10

The Seahawks botched their easy chance into the playoffs, and now have to beat the best aerial attack in the league, or beat a perennial thorn in their side in week 17. The Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes has thrown 45 touchdowns and for over 4,500 yards. The Hawks allowed Nick Mullens to throw for nearly 700 over two games. What do you think Mahomes will do with Kansas City still fighting for the division title? Prediction: very ugly for Seattle.
Prediction: Chiefs 37 Seahawks 27

First of all, I love Kevin’s passion. I agree 100 percent with him. Seattle’s loss to the 49ers was incredibly frustrating for so many reasons. Secondly, I have to agree with Todd that Mahomes could throw for 500 yards against Seattle. 600 if Bradley McDougald cannot play. The only way Seattle wins is if Russell Wilson is better than he has been the last two weeks and Seattle controls the ball on the ground. Even then the game would be close.
Prediction: Chiefs 35 Seahawks 17
