Defense

Defensive line

The stats for the line might not look amazing but this is where raw statistics do not tell an entire narrative. Mahomes was under pressure a lot even though he was sacked just once. That sack was from Dion Jordan and was Jordan’s first of the season. Jordan chose a wise time to have his best game of 2018.

The defense had 11 hits on Mahomes and the line had 10 of them. Frank Clark and Jarran Reed continued stellar seasons and proved yet again that they should be the anchors of this line for several more years.

Grade: A

Linebackers

Can we just put to rest any question that Bobby Wagner is the best linebacker in the NFL? Once again Wagner was all over the field and finished with a combined 12 tackles. K.J. Wright played most of the game (because Seattle doesn’t really have good depth behind Wagner and Wright) and had a pass defended and two tackles.

Grade: B+

Secondary

Sure, Mahomes threw for three touchdowns but for only 273 yards and has 17 incompletions. Tight end Travis Kelce had just 54 yards receiving. But now because Bradley McDougald was on him as Kelce was covered mostly by Akeem King.

Yes, Akeem King. I mean, where did that come from? King proved he is a baller and would get an A+ for his individual performance.

Delano Hill played well enough to make Tedric Thompson’s absence meaningless. Justin Coleman had five tackles. And Shaquill Griffin was in tight coverage for nearly the entire game.

But what about Tre Flowers? You didn’t hear a lot about him during the game. Why is that? It could be that teams are now trying to stay away from him as he is becoming a great cornerback.

Next. Who will Seahawks face in the playoffs?. dark

Special teams

The third phase of the game was where the Seahawks were not very good. Sebastian Janikowski missed a 36 yard field goal and appeared to get banged up while being roughed on another field goal attempt. Michael Dickson had the worst game of his short career and averaged just 34.7 yards per punt on three kicks. Lockett did have a 32 yard kickoff return though.
