Seahawks will have no excuses to lose due to injuries to Cowboys
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks got some good news about Saturday’s Wild card playoff game. Some key Seattle players should be able to go.
The Seahawks have had a much more fortunate season with injuries this season than last. Sure, Seattle has had to play without Earl Thomas for most of the season after he was lost in week four. But Thomas was a better talent on the field than in the locker room so his loss is almost a plus on this 2018 roster.
Seattle will have no real excuses to lose as far as their health stands going into the Wild Card game against the Cowboys on Saturday in Dallas. The only player who seems sure of not playing is Tre Madden. I am sure that Madden is a fine person, but the Seahawks can win without their fullback being on the field.
Cornerback Shaquill Griffin hurt his ankle against the Cardinals in week 17 but he was a full participant in practice on Thursday and should be able to play on Saturday. At this point, the Cowboys still have only one really good receiver to throw to – Amari Cooper – but Seattle should have both their starters at corner ready to play.
Guard J.R. Sweezy has missed a lot of practice this week but seems to be ready to play on Saturday. Sweezy has missed the last two games with a foot injury. He will give it a go against Dallas and if he can’t, Seattle will replace him with Ethan Pocic. Let’s hope they don’t have to.
Seattle might still have a young team and one not as experienced overall going into the playoffs as in previous seasons. They could lose on Saturday in Dallas. But if they do, it won’t be because of injury issues coming into the game. Seattle can win on Saturday and hopefully they do.
