The Seahawks may not be playing in Super Bowl LIII. But if the early odds for next year are correct, they won’t be in Super Bowl LIV either.

Super Bowl LIII will not feature the Seahawks. Seattle has a lot of hope for next season, though, with a lot of returning talent. Seattle exceeded expectations this season so there is no reason to think they won’t be better in 2019.

But the Seahawks didn’t get much appreciation prior to 2018 with some national pundits thinking Seattle would not win half its games. During the season, and even as Seattle was on its way to the postseason after winning 10 games, there wasn’t much love shown to Russell Wilson and company.

According to Odds Shark, though, the trend of the Seahawks not getting a lot of respect will continue. Not only is Seattle not moving up when it comes to Vegas predicting which teams have the best chances of making Super Bowl LIV but Seattle’s odds are worse than every other team that made the playoffs this season.

Seattle currently ranks 17th-best in chances of winning next year’s Super Bowl. Seattle has worse chances than five teams that were not in the playoffs this year, including the Cleveland Browns. That’s right. Las Vegas is telling you that in January 2019, the Browns have a better chance of winning a Super Bowl faster than the Seahawks do.

Also, the San Francisco 49ers are creeping up on Seattle. The 49ers have the 18th-best chance of winning the 2020 Super Bowl.

Of course, these odds will change based on draft classes and free agent signings. But I find it a little disheartening that when Vegas looks at the current roster for each team, they don’t think Seattle is better than half the teams in the NFL. Maybe the Seahawks will play with the proverbial chip on their shoulder next season. If so, it sounds like the perfect Pete Carroll team and that can only mean good things for 12s.
