The Seahawks had the best rushing offense in the NFL in 2018. But Duane Brown thinks Seattle should have thrown more and some other Seattle news from last week.

The Seahawks made the playoffs last year which was a bit of a surprise. A big reason for Seattle’s success was how well the team ran the ball. But Duane Brown thinks Seattle might have been a little bit too conservative. Here is a bit about that and some other news, like Russell Wilson‘s fitness program, in Seahawk news from last week.

Run less, throw more, says Duane Brown

While Seattle was very good using Chris Carson and others to run the ball last season, Seattle got a bit too conservative sometimes. In Seattle’s loss to Dallas in the Wild Card game, for example, Brian Schottenheimer’s play-calling was far too unimaginative. Time and time again Seattle ran the ball on first and second downs. The team was too easy to figure out.

Pro Bowl left tackle Brown told NFL.com that Seattle needs to use Wilson more in 2019. Brown said, “When you have a quarterback as talented as Russell Wilson is, you have to have balance, At times, I think we ran the ball maybe a little bit too much, and that’s kind of hard to say as a lineman.” Brown isn’t wrong. It was frustrating to see Seattle constantly run into the teeth of the Cowboys defense and never adjust. And the issue didn’t just happen against Dallas.

Pete Carroll has talked about the offense will expand this coming season. But these are professional players and the offense could have expanded in 2018 as well. 12s all know what Brown said was correct.

Looking for a new workout location? Wilson has one.

Seattle’s quarterback is an investor in a fitness program called TruFusion. And the company has opened a new location in Bellevue. I don’t mention this to sell you on the business; I know nothing about it really.

But the gym offers 200 classes per week in all kinds of workouts. 200. That is a lot.

Seattle expecting visitors

The Seahawks hosted several free agents last week. Nick Perry and Aaron Lynch, of course, but also Earl Mitchell. What does this mean? Clearly Seattle knows what the teams most glaring problem is: Defensive line, both at end and along the interior. Seattle hasn’t made any big free agent signings and none of these three would be considered splash moves. Still, any addition of a player who would give Seattle solid production on its line is a good move.
