Trade Alert: Seahawks Trade Pick 29 to Indianapolis for picks 34,129, & 135, selects Hakeem Butler, WR Iowa State

First, let’s talk about the trade. Having locked in their stud edge player and not trading down at 21, the Seahawks will need to trade down to snag a few late 4th round picks. After the trade, Seattle would have picks 36, 92, 124, 129, 135, 159 giving them 7 altogether.

Schneider could trade down one more time and gain another pick, but I think wide receiver will be the pick regardless. We have talked a lot about the Seahawks need for a receiver and this draft has a lot of variety and options at this point in the draft. Deebo Samuel, Parris Campbell, Terry McLaurin, and N’Keal Harry all make sense in this spot, assuming they’re available.

In Butler, the Seahawks find the big-bodied athlete and red zone weapon they are constantly looking for and is a perfect compliment to Tyler Lockett on the outside. The 6’5″, 225 lbs wideout ran a 4.48 forty yard dash.

While his vertical is only slightly above-average, he uses his big frame perfectly to win jump balls and box out those trying to cover him. He has strong hands but still struggles with drops and may not have the short area burst to win at the line of scrimmage.

Butler will need to win late to get open and must continue to work on his craft but nobody doubts his work ethic. Butler is a game-breaker who produced 8 touchdowns of 40 yards or more the past two years. Butler defines the term “physical receiver” and could quickly become Russell Wilson‘s favorite target.
