The Seahawks chose 11 players in the 2019 NFL Draft. Did Seattle choose wisely or poorly this year?

The Seahawks had some really big needs to fill in the 2019 NFL Draft. Seattle needed an edge rusher, a receiver or five, some overall defensive line help and a safety. The team could also have used a running back to play behind Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny in 2019. Did Seattle find the answers to the questions it had?

Seahawks drafts are always graded oddly by the national media because a lot of times pundits just don’t know what to do with what John Schneider and Pete Carroll’s idea of a draft should be. If Seattle gets a C grade by those outside Seattle that is usually a good thing. This year will be no different. I will say, however, that NFL.com thought Seattle did pretty well.

The Seahawks waited until round six to draft a running back showing that they did not think that the position was in dire need of a fix with their third down back. Maybe they believe J.D. McKissic will fill that role.

The Seahawks also only drafted one pass rusher so while that is an obvious need in Seattle maybe they have plans to sign someone. Ezekiel Ansah is still available, for instance, even though he has a troubling injury history.

One position that is almost more of a concern for 12s after the draft is at receiver. Seattle took three and have signed two more as undrafted free agents. This does not bode well for Doug Baldwin recovering from all his injuries this past year.

Will the Seahawks 2019 draft picks be successful? Here’s our look into the future to see.
